Safety Policy Goal

Barker Steel is committed to exceeding customer's expectations by providing fabricated and erected products that exhibit impeccable quality while maintaining safety and complying with AISC, AWS, RCSC and all other governing agency standards. Barker Steel's safety goal is to complete each project, no matter the size, without injury to any person and without damaging any property or equipment. This goal is stated emphatically in each project's safety manual as well as the corporate safety manual.  It is our policy to provide a work environment that is inherently safe, from the fab shop to the field. The safety of our employees and the safety of others is our utmost concern, both on and off the job sites.  

Training

We continually assess our work procedures, job sites, vehicles and equipment to identify training needs and ensure that safety procedures are constantly met. Our employees and management observe and report all training concerns and any improvements that might need to be made to the President and the Quality Control Manager.

OSHA & MSHA

Our craftsmen are trained by OSHA and MSHA and in other industry-specific areas in order to meet the safety requirements for every job we perform. It is our policy to not just get the training card, but to also fully understand and continually implement each safety standard with OSHA and MSHA and to meet or exceed our General Contractor's Safety Plans, as well.

Certifications & Experience

Our Certified Welding Instructor and Inspector is on staff to visually inspect our welds and our shop and field welders are certified with AWS. Our field erectors and craftsmen are competent and educated in specific training areas & are qualified members of the Ironworker's Local 75 Union, a branch of the International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental and Reinforcing Iron Workers.
